- In a quiet neighborhood, there lived a family with a Shih Tzu dog named Charlie. He was loved by everyone for being small, fluffy and adorable. Charlie was happy and content because he had everyone's attention. "Yippee! I am the king of the world!", says Charlie to himself, jumping around in glee.
- This was the scenario for quite some time until one fine day, the family brought home a new member. His name is Carlos, He is a Chowchow and is bigger, fluffier, younger, and stronger than Charlie. Charlie was very sad because he no longer had the family's full attention. "Why did they bring this big monster home? Don't they love me anymore?", thought Charlie with sadness in his eyes.
- Carlos was a very friendly dog despite his huge size. Over the next 12 months, he tried his best to befriend Charlie but Charlie won't accept his friendship. "Hey, Charlie! Do you want to play tag?", asks Carlos. "No! Stay away from me you giant gumball! I want you to leave! Everything was perfect until you came along!", Charlie shouted, hating Carlos everytime Charlie sees him.
- Out of anger and sadness, Charlie ran away from home when the family left to do some errands. He got lost and ran into a gang of bigger, meaner and stronger stray dogs. They started pushing him around. "This is not your part of the neighborhood! Why are you invading into our territory?", the leader of the gang angrily shouts. Then out out of nowhere, everyone heard big footsteps approaching.quickly.
- Before the big dogs can do any more harm to Charlie, Carlos immediately jumped in and with big teeth showing he shouted, "Get all your dirty, stinky paws off my friend Charlie!" In fear, all the big dogs quickly ran away. "Thank you so much Carlos for saving me. I owe you my life and I am sorry for all those times that I have treated you so badly", says Charlie with remorse.
- Charlie was very grateful for what Carlos did for him. From then on, he got a different impression of Carlos. He finally treated Carlos with respect and kindness. They became best friends who help each other all the time.
