- Scout and Jem ask Atticus, why is he old. Sometimes Atticus age embarrsses his children, additionaly he wears glasses.
- Calpurnia tell Atticus who had just returned home with Heck Tate about the mad dog. Heck tells Atticus to shoot the dog.
- Forgot to tell you …, Atticus Finch was the deadest shot in Maycomb country in his time
- Don't say anything about it, Scout.
- Atticus shot the dog, with his first shot, despite his consider to shot the dog from far away distance. Atticus never went hunting or fishing like other man in the town, so Jem and Scout were amazed.
- What? I certainlyam. Ain't everybody's daddy the deadest shot on Maycomb Country.
- Later on, Scout and Jem went to Miss Maudie and told her everything that had happened.
- Jem and Scout were shocked and surprised of what Miss Maudie had said.

- Scout wanted to tell everyone in the school how amazing Atticus is. However, Jem tells her not to say anything to anybody because Jem believed that Atticus doesn't want anyone to know about what had happen.
- I reckon if He'd us to know it, he'da told us. If he was proud of it, he'da told us.
