- Rajesh works as a casual labourer in agriculture in Dantewada village. He earns around Rs. 150 per day but due to covid in recent times his daily wage dropped to Rs. 104.
- Rajesh has three sons and two daughters. Her wife Dulhari is also working (part time) as house cleaner for the livestock, removing and managing cow dung. She gets ½ litre milk and some cooked food along with vegetables for her daily work.
- Rajesh has to face seasonal unemployment during certain months of the year due to agriculture being a seasonal activity. Sometimes he gets employment in construction activities in the village. By all his efforts, Rajesh is able to earn enough to buy essentials for two square meals for his family. However, during the days when he is unable to get some work, he and his family really face difficulties and sometimes his small kids have to sleep without food.
- Due to this minimal earning, Rajesh is not able to afford proper housing and sanitation facilities for his family. Affording proper cooking fuel was also very difficult until the recent implementation of PM Ujjwal Yojana which aims to safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel -LPG, so that they don't have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.
- Rajesh has also been able to provide education to his children under the Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dulara Yojana. Under the scheme, the Chhattisgarh government stipend of rupees 500 per month is paid to students from classes 1 to 8 and rupees 1000 per month for classes 9th to 12th.
