  • Well, There was widespread graft and corruption, as evidenced by a failure to meet basic needs such as public works, education, and peace. Taxation was never fully utilized. Filipinos have a low amount of participation in government and it was impossible to achieve reform since it was the Spanish prosecutors to decide when and how revolution should come. So to answer your question, maybe the positive development of politics during those times didn’t take place.

  • Studying works of Rizal is a significant as it was in his time. Filipinos are fortunate to have someone who has given us a better sense of ourselves. He gave us the courage to speak our minds even if it might cause trouble, especially when what is being considered by society leaders or authorities does not coincide with what we believe in.
  • Its also important to remember that Rizal was a patriot who cherished our history and bravely fought for independence because he wanted his people free from colonial rule

  • Its an obligation for every Filipino to not forget the past as it was a big part of what we have now as an individual and as a citizen. It is our duty that every Filipino must do. Studying political history will give us a glimpse of what kind of Philippines we will be today and in the future an what can we do to avoid mistakes from the past.
  • The same situation we're in today, fighting not only with words but through action by speaking up against injustice, marching on the streets when necessary or taking it to social media.
