- This is Hazel Grace, she is a 17 year old living with cancer. Her mom forced her to go to a support group so she could meet new people. Everyone in the group has a disability and goes there to talk about themselves and how they feel but Hazel feels upset because she doesn't feel like she needs it.
- "I am, I know oblivion is inevitable and that we all shall die but I am in love with you" pg153

- Hazel met this guy at the support group, he was a distinctive guy, in a good way. Hazel and Augustus started talking and hanging out almost every day. They told each other about their favorite books, their fears and their diagnostics.
- "No, you have got to tell me what happens, did Anna's mother get married?, have kids? WHAT?, I DONT wan't your pity, I want answers"pg192

- In one of these days of hanging out, Hazel tells Agustus about her favorite book, the book tells about at girl who is dying because of cancer, just like Hazel. Hazel tells how the book is not finished and so they wanted to try and find the author of the book"An Imperial Affliction" so they know how the book ends. They also talked about "Cancer wishes" and how Hazel used hers to go to disney land.
- Since Peter van Houten the author of Hazels favorite book "An Imperial Affliction" would not tell Hazel and Augustus what happens at the end of the book through email, they decided to travel to Amsterdam to meet him using Augustus wish. They travel with Hazel's mom. and during the plane Augustus tells something really shocking for Hazel.
- They get there and realize the author isn't going to tell them about the end of the book. Peter Van Houten was drunk and would go off topic. They became frustrated with him and he doesn't take them seriously because he never thought they would actually come. Hazel tried with being nice, she tried being firm and Peter wouldn't tell them. They left with no answers and what comes as a shock is that Augustus cancer is back.
- After a few days fighting for it, "August Waters died in the ICU, when the cancer, which was made of him, finally stopped his heart, which was also made of him" Hazel learned so much from him and knows that "pain demands to be felt" THE END
