One day at Robert Manson Middle school, 4 students were practicing for a play. The play was about a girl who falls in love with a masked phantom. Cassidy got the role of the leading girl and Gabe got the role of the phantom. Emma, who was apart of the stage crew, had all of the keys to the auditorium. Luke was a mischievous boy and loved to play pranks.
Emma had gotten a phone call from her mother and that was Luke's chance to steal the keys. While her back was turned, he carefully took the keys from her pocket. Before she could turn around, he was already gone. Emma had no idea.
It was time for Cassidy and Gabe to practice the kiss scene. Luke snuck back into the auditorium and hid behind the stage curtains. Just as they were about to practice the kiss, Luke used the key to lower the stage latch.
Little did Luke know; Emma had come back into the auditorium and seen him with the keys. She immediately rushed over to grabbed key from him. Luke didn't budge and they were now fighting over the keys. While they were fighting, the stage was still lowering. Next thing they know, the key snapped! Now, Cassidy and Gabe were completely stuck under the stage.
Under the stage, Cassidy and Gabe were terrified. It was very dark. They could only hope that they would be able to get out. Once they calmed down, they started to search for a way back above the stage.
Above the stage, it was chaos. Mr. Smith, the play director, had heard the commotion. She had entered the auditorium to see Luke and Emma arguing. Mrs. Smith eventually got the situation under control.
Luckily, Mrs. Smith had an extra key. She used the key to bring the latch back up. Fortunately, Cassidy and Gabe noticed the stage latch moving and got on before it was too late.
Cassidy and Gabe made it safely back above the stage. Mrs. Smith punished Luke by giving him clean up duty after the play. Luke felt very guilty. Luke swore to never play pranks again. After all, the play was a hit!
