- Elie is about to be whipped by Idek because he walked in on him with a girl in the warhorse.
- Man v god
- Why should I pray when every fiber in me in rebelling.
- The rabbi's son let his father fall behind in the long run. This is an example of Man v Self conflict because Elie is having this problem with only himself and no one else. Elie never wants to let this happen to his father.
- Man v society
- "The SS officer made us increase our pace. Faster you flee-ridden dogs!...I began to think of myself again, my foot was aching, I shivered with every step. (Wiesel 86) Man v Nature is shown here by all of the harsh elements that they are having to run in.
- Blessed be God's name?...Why, but why should I bless him? Every fiber in me rebelled. (Wiesel 67) This is man v god because he does not believe in god anymore.
- "Jews are prohibited from leaving their residences for three days, under penalty of death"(Wiesel 10). This represents Man vs society because the SS officers are making them stay in their houses against their own will.
