- First thing- what is biomedical research? Biomedical research is when scientists use model organisms such as rats to study genetic diseases. Second thing- why I do it. I do biomedical research on rats. This is because, according to Universitylabpartners.org, biomedical research is important since it is the "first step towards the creation of new medications". This is crucial because if we can come up with medication for genetic disorders, we can help millions of people. So I do research on rats since they can reproduce quickly and are a good model.
