George finds Lennie in Salinas before the guys. He proceeds to talk to Lennie about his mistakes. George still strongly believed in them having a future. George hears the men coming and with the Lugar tries to kill them.
George finds Lennie in the forest following a river. George tries to talk Lennie out of leaving forever. Lennie is certain he wants to leave and tells George nothings going to stop him. As George tries to stop Lennie, pulls out his Lugar. George pushes him into the water since he can't swim and drowns.
As George and Lennie try to leave Salinas they stumble upon Curley's wife. Surprised George and Lennie are stopped. Curley's wife then pulls out a gun and explains how the doctors were able to save her as she just went unconscious. She then tells Lennie that she will kill him. George gets on his knees and begs for her not to. She ends up doing it.
