- On his way back from New York, Tom Buchannan rescued his mistress, Myrtle. Her husband feared she was having an affair with someone else, and what started off as a friendly talk gradually escalated into a spanking or a mild reprimand. Tom was in a state of disbelief and anxiety.
- Tom consoles Myrtle.

- Daisy Buchanan, Tom's wife, arrived at her and Tom's home after the trip to New York with her cousin Nick Carraway, Jordan Baker, and Jay Gatsby.
- Daisy finds Tom and his mistress, Myrtle, making love as she enters the room.

- Blood...*Whispers*
- Tom and Myrtle are shocked as they see that Daisy has uncovered their secret affair and she is fuming. Daisy was furious to the point where she had left and went for a gun which was now aimed at them.

- Daisy was not moved by their frightened expressions, it actually made her angrier and as such she fired a shot that hit Tom in his chest. This alerted Jordan, Nick and Gatsby that something was wrong so they made their way to the couple's room.
- The three made it to the horrific scene where Tom's body lied lifeless. It was very chaotic so Gatsby tried to calm everyone down. As Myrtle was making her way toward Daisy, angry with her for shooting her lover,
- Daisy fired another shot which hit and killed Myrtle.
- Gatsby, now double shocked, instructed Daisy to put the gun down. Nick and Jordan were in disbelief.
- Gatsby rushes over to Daisy to console her as she sobs. Nick and Jordan were in a state of shock and awe, unaware of what was going to happen next.
