Prohibition was passed in 1912 under the war measures act cancelling the selling and distribution of alcohol making it illegal to do so.
What am I supposed to do now?
Sir, you can not sell any alcohol. It is illegal and there are many punishment for doing this.
If you were caught selling beers and breaking the law of prohibition, you would be sent to jail. Some police officers could have been payed off for money.
What did I do wrong? All I did was sell some beers and now I have to spend 3 weeks in this dirty cell!!!
I have something for you. I will give you a prescription for some alcohol but do not overuse it.
One way to drink legally was to be “ill,” since doctors could give prescriptions to be filled at drugstores. Abuse of this system resulted, with veritable epidemics and long queues occurring during the Christmas holiday season.
Doctor, I am feeling very ill is there anything you can give me to heal?
Yes finally my long lasting craving will finally be over!
Were In!
It was very common for people to bootleg and rum run. Some people like Al Chapone, Roce perri and Bessie starkman were all famous gangsters that would bootleg alcohol.
I have an idea. Since we all own bars and we can't sell alcohol, we bootleg it instead. Well what do you fellas say?
Speakeasies were a way that people could drink without getting arrested and if there was a raid that would add to the exitment. Younger women went to speakeasies and most were flappers.
I hope nobody finds out I have been buying bootleg liquor in my favorite speakeasies.
Mr goode, can you come out soon? I need my goods as fast as possible.
Prohibition was ended during the twenties in Canada, because criminals were making millions in the illegal sale of alcohol and bootlegging. Canada still tightly controls the sale of liquor to this day and they make sure everything is flowing smoothly involving liquor and distribution.
I'm proud to say that alcohol is now legal again.
