- Looks like there is no land! I will go dive deep and try to get a handful of Earth for us to live on.
- Long ago, after the creator first put people on the Earth, the Anishinabe, or original people, turned straight from peaceful ways to begin to argue and fight with one another. Brother turned on brother and soon they were killing one another. The creator decided to purify the Earth, he did that by binging a Great Flood and killing the Anishinabe people.
- The water was too deep, I couldn't reach the Earth.
- Nanabush was able to survive the flood with some animals and birds. Nanabush floated on a huge log searching for land, but no land was found because of the great flood, So he decided to dive deep and try getting a handful of the Earth for him and the animals to live on.
- Nanabush started swimming down. and down, and down, but he wasn't able to reach the Earth. After that, he quickly swam up again.

- Nanabush stayed under water for a long time but wasn't able to reach the Earth. The loon said that he will try as all his hunting is done under water, which will make him able to go under water for longer times, and reach even farther.
- Maybe, I can try. I am used to hunt under water!
- The loon stayed under water for a very long time, but when he surfaced he was unconscious. The loon was not able to reach the Earth too.
- I couldn't reach the Earth
- After the loon failed to reach the Earth, many animals volunteered to try and dive deep down and grab a handful of the Earth to make a new land and a new life for everybody, but all of them failed.
