- This scene is when Issac went threw a breakup because Monica left him. This also shows how Issac feel after the break up, talking about how he likes women who dress nice to help out a boy with is having a nervous breakdown or is having a hard time in life.

- You don't know what? I asked. I looked at his hand because I didn't want to look at his face blindfolded by bandages. (page 74)
- She hasn't even visited, I mean, we were together fourteen months. Fourteen months is a long time. (page 74)
- This Scene shows Issac after the eye surgery because of his cancer. This left him with his face covered in bandages and left, later on Issac talks to Hazel about how Monica didn't even come to visit even after they have been together for fourteen months.

- I was very tempted to respond Okay again, but I pictured him at my funeral, and that helped me text properly. (page 102)
- This scene shows Hazel texting to Augustus that she doesn't want to go on a date with him, which also helps Hazel avoid a conversation with him about the date rejection. Later on when they are texting Augustus how she doesn't want to go on the date with him and kiss him. Hazel only does this because she does not want to end up hurting Augustus when she dies.
