  • Life in the Roman empire is great!
  • Not for all of us! What’s so good about your daily life?
  • The education of boys and girls in the rich is held by their fathers until the age of 6 years old. The boys and girls go to school after the age of six. Their classes were either held in private or public homes.
  • Education
  • Education for us in the poor the children are sent to work instead of going to school. We learned trades, such as leather working and metalworking to help earn money for our families. 
  • Housing
  • Our wealthy woman of Rome lives in grand houses, built of stone and marble. An indoor pool helped to keep the atrium cool. We also have an opening on the roof to let in natural lighting.
  • We have to live in small apartments above where we work. Our apartments were cramped, noisy and even dirty. 
  • Only us rich people had a kitchen in our homes. Us wealthy Romans ate elaborate dinners, mice cooked in honey, roasted parrots stuffed with dates, salted jellyfish, snails dipped in milk. 
  • Food and Drinks
  • For dinner, we had chunks of fish along with some asparagus, and a fig for desert.
  • Us rich people our husbands often held well-paid political positions. Wealthy Roman women run the households. They bought and trained the familys slaves. Many had money of their own and were active in business. They also bought and sold property
