- Millions of years ago, there were creatures called cerritulus that lived in lush green grass areas. Their green skin helped them blend in to the environment in order to avoid predators.
- One day, a horrible hurricane rolled in. It swept up nearly half of all the cerrituluses and relocated them to the other side of a large river...
- ...and into a gray, rocky habitat where food and water were scarce and their bright green skin made them an easy target for predators.
- Now, millions of years later, these creatures from the rocky land became so different from the original cerritulus that they could not reproduce with each other for a fertile offspring, and became a new species altogether.
- Luckily for them, a variation of gray skin and lighter body weight appeared in the form of a mutation, allowing for better camoflauge and water retainment.
- This increased the fitness of those with the mutation, allowing them to live longer reproduce more than their green counterparts and pass on the gene of being gray and small.
