- Well, first off. Blood cells are made in the bone marrow which is inside of your bones
- Well first of, the red blood cells have no oxygen. this is what they supply your limbs with so they need to go get some. It starts at the heart, which pumps the blood around your body. it then goes to the lungs where it picks up oxygen through a process called the "Gas Exchange".
- Its also good to note that there is more then just the red bloods cells in blood. White blood cells are part of your immune system and help fight off bad infections. Platelets are these teeny tiny cells that help clot blood when cut or bruised. Blood plasma is responsible for carrying nutrients, hormones and proteins to the parts of the body that need it
- If platelets clot blood then how come my blood doesn't clot?
- Even though you have hemophilia which stops blood from clotting. You have the same amount of platelets as any other kid your age, its just that these platelets don't know how to do their job correctly.
- Also its lucky that you didn't cut an artery. These are like veins but very high pressure, these take oxygen away from your heart to your limbs. They need thick walls to help contain this high pressured blood. Veins on the other hand have thinner walls, except they have valves which stop the blood from going the wrong way
