- The next day, Matilda went to her rich friend. She explained her problem and borrowed a diamond necklace from her friend.

- 10 years later, Mme Loisel meets her friend Jeanne again in a marketplace. Jeanne didn't recognise her at first but when Matilda told her her name she recognized her. Matilda decided to tell her the truth.
- And so to pay off the debts, we lost most of money and now live a frugal existence.
