On The Sidewalk Bleeding

- The boy lay on the sidewalk bleeding in the snow. He was 19 years old, and he wore a Boston Celtics jersey. The boy's name was Niko and it was printed on the back of the jersey in bold white letters. Niko had been stabbed just over 10 minutes ago. The knife entered right in the middle of his stomach, it tore and twisted across to the side of his body leaving a wide hole right through his flesh.
- Niko had just left his house to get a pack of vape pods, he told his girlfriend Sofia he would be back in a few minutes, when Niko got to the bottom of his building he realized that the vape store was closed. He knew that hazetown, a store on the street over, would be open
- As he started his walk through the alley he was attacked, a group of Knicks fans saw his Celtics jersey and jumped him and beat him violently
- Niko heard footsteps from the end of the alley. He tried to lift his head to look over but he didn't have the energy. Niko tried to call out for help but all that came out was a slight hiss from the blood bubbling in his mouth. As the man got closer Niko could tell something was wrong. The man was unbalanced and speaking to himself, he was so high he didn't even realize that Niko was laying right beneath him
- Shortly after a couple came running into the alley, they went and hid from heavy snow under a doorway, Niko tried to speak but all that came out was a slight grunt, the girl asked “what was that” in a panicked voice the man went to look when he found Niko he just stood there panicked
- He didn't know what to do the girl wanted to leave, she didn't want any part but the man felt that he needed to help. He realized that Niko had a Celtics jersey on and he immediately realized what had happened. Neither him or the girl wanted anything to do with it
- I don't want to die, he thought. I haven't lived yet. It seemed very important to him that he take off the jersey. He was very close to dying, and when they found him, he did not want them to say, "Oh, he's a Celtics fan." With great effort, he rolled over onto his back. He felt the pain tearing at his stomach when he moved. If he never did another thing, he just wanted to take off the jersey.
- His girlfriend Sofia found him in the doorway just before midnight. She left the house to look for him, and when she found him, she knelt beside him and said, "Niko, it's me, Sofia." He did not answer her. She backed away from him, tears springing into her eyes, and then she ran from the alley. She did not stop running until she found a cop. And now, standing with the cop, she looked down at him. The cop rose and said, "He's dead"
