Living in the Favela

- Hello! My name is Poppy and this is my house. I live in the Favela.
- The Favela is on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, on the South East Coast.
- Nearly 1.5 million people live in the Favelas. This is around 23-24% of the population of Brazil. (Almost a quarter!)
- I would love to go to school but my parents can't afford it for me or any of my siblings.
- There is a large drug and crime rate here so you learn to be more aware of the things around you.
- I would one day love to move further into the city, but for now I am happy being with my family!
