- Ever since he was little, Jason loved cars and wanted to start driving as soon as he could. Before he turned 16, he studied the ICBC Learn to Drive Smart guide, took the Practical Knowledge and Road Signs practice tests on the ICBC website, and was ready to take the L license knowledge test he booked on his birthday months prior. He also used the Street Sense game available for download on the website to practice in real driving environments.

- To take the L license knowledge test, you must bring an accepted form of ID, be 16 years or older, a signed form of consent from a legal guardian (or have them come with you) if you are 19 or younger, and $15 as a test fee.
- To attain your L, you must get a score of 40/50 on the test and pass vision screening.
- I passed the test and vision screening! But I've still got two more tests to go until an unrestricted drivers' license.
- The restrictions for an L driver are as follows:- Must be accompanied by a supervisor 25 years or older with a valid Class 1-5 license and at least one year of driving experience- No alcohol or use of electronic devices while driving- No driving between midnight and 5 am unless accompanied by a qualified supervisor- No driving with passengers, except for a qualified supervisor or immediate family members- Must display a clear and visible "L" sign on the back of the car

- With the first test done and L attained, Jason still has two tests left to go until he gets his unrestricted license. Next up was the Novice road test.
- To advance from an L to N license, you must hold your L license for 12 months. However, if you complete an ICBC approved driving course, you can reduce the time by 6 months.
