- Jesus explains that God's stone, in this case, himself, was sent down, yet people still reject him. Believing that he had spoken against them, the chief priests looked for a way to arrest Jesus but instead chose to walk away since they feared the crowd.
- “‘He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyeard to others...The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’[a]?” (Mark 12:10-11)
