  • No, We´ve got physical education but we´re going for burgers.
  • Marji´s Life
  • They also have hot dogs.
  • Burgers
  • Marji´s Life
  • Julie, Where are you going?
  • Bye, Mom!
  • Marji´s Life
  • OHHHH!
  • Why is it that I, as a woman, am expected to feel nothing when watching these men with their clothes sculpted on but they, as men, can get excited by two inches less of my head-scarf?- Satrapi 297
  • We cannot allow ourselves to behave loosely...I am asking the young ladies present here to wear less wide, trousers and longer head-scarfs.
  • In this scene Marjane ha came to inform her friends that the bell had rang for their next class. But her friends had made the decision to skip school and go get burgers. Marjane had never skipped before but because she wanted to fit in she chose to skip class as well.
  • My Life
  • Hey, You should come to the gas station with us and skip first period. Everybody is going, you do not wanna be the only one there.
  • All you needed was some money. - Satrapi 111
  • During this part of the book Marjane was at her friend Julie´s house. Julie is known for her wild decisions, but disrespecting her mother was something Marjane did not like. Julie did not give her mom the respect she deserved. Marjane just kept thinking to herself that the nuns would to be able to handle Julie if they had to.
  • My Life
  • And the sisters who found me insolent... if only they´d seen Julie.-Satrapi 180
  • You will not speak to me that way! I do too much for you to speak to me that way you do, I have sacrificed too much for you.
  • Towards the end of the book Marjane had been called to a meeting that was supposed to be about ¨Moral and Religious Conduct¨ but the conversation shifted extremely. As the conversation went on the men decided the women needed to wear more clothing due to how it made the men feel but that is very sexist and unfair to women.
  • My Life
  • I was at school and when I got dropped off all of my friends were going to the gas station. I did not want to look lame or boring so I went as well. I was very scared and I knew I was going t get in trouble if I got caught but I still went anyway.. That a very bad decision because the punishment was not worth it at all.
  • I hope I dont get in trouble. Okay I´ll come.
  • I was at my old best friend´s house because I was staying there for break. While I was there she had did some things that I did not want to do so I stayed at her house. Her mother saw her location and she got upset and was wondering why her daughter had been dishonest. My ex-friend then chose to get disrespectful with her mother and said she will never do what she says and she also told her mom that she did not care about her.
  • I do not understand why you cannot get it through your head I am going to do and go wherever I want no matter what you say. I am going to do as I please and there is nothing you can do about it.
  • I was at a school function and I had a very strict male teacher. He often dress coded many of the females but never any of the males. I always knew he was mean but I did not think he would be sexist as well. He sent girls out for wearing skirts with no leggings or if her boobs were to big or showing a little at the top he said they needed to be covered. Ad the worst one of all was the shoulders. A girl could be wearing a shirt that goes all the way up to her neck but if the shoulders were out she had to leave as well.
  • Why do shoulders affect men? Why do the females get more dress coded than the men? Are you attracted to shoulders?
