- In this scene Gatsby is approached by a reporter because of his growing popularity and avid parties at his mansion,
- Anything to say about what?
- I'm delighted to see you, sit down have a cigarette or a cigar!
- Gatsby welcomes Nick to his house and offers him a cigar to make him more comfortable.
- Gasby, a bootlegger?
- Tom assumes that Gatsby got his money from being a bootlegger because his fame is suspicious to him.
- Isn't he some bootlegger?
- Oh yes, so we did. About two weeks ago.
- Tom and Gatsby have a short conversation and talk about when they had met prior.
- I believe we're met somewhere before, Mr Buchanan.
- This scene is a flashback to when Gatsby fell in love with Daisy before he went off to the war.
- "His heart beat faster and faster as Daisy's white face came upon his own."
- Gatsby is upset that Daisy didn't have a good time at his party and dwells on his past relationship with Daisy.
- I just wish that things were exactly the same as when I left Louisville
