- Jackson was a 10 year old boy who was traveling west with his family in 1862 for there grandparents land that they got from the homestead act. Jackson family was really excited to start traveling west.

- While they were traveling west, it started getting cold . Snow was falling and they realized they were going to get hit by a snow storm.They had no shelter and they started getting worried. They would have to camp there until the snow started to melt.

- Weeks went by and they ran out of food and new they had to go to the wilderness to go and try to find food But they were scared.
- They went to the wild and instead of finding food they found native american.And they new they had to ask of help in order to survive but Emma was confuse and a little scared because she had never seen native American.

- When the snow storm was over the got back on there feet and they started traveling west again.they really appreciate the native American help. Before they left the navies american gave them food to travel west.
- 3 moths later, they made it to there destination . Jackson grandma was crying in happy tears. Also they all so happy to see each other and grandma was grateful that nothing happen to them .
