  • SD: Victor, visibly paler, stands over the finished creature lying on the lab table at night. He watches as the creature's eyes open, and the creature starts to breathe and move."...by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs.""His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teath of pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes..."
  • SD: Victor runs away from the "being", goes to his bedroom, and falls asleep. • SD: the dream continues, showing Elizabeth dying and rotting away. Victor wakes up to see the monster standing over him. Panicking, Victor jumps out of bed and runs out of the room."...as I imprinted the first kiss on her lips, they became livid with the hue of death, her features appeared to change, and I thought that I held the corpse of my dead mother in my arms; a shroud enveloped her form, and I saw the grave-worms crawlings in the folds of flannel. I started from my sleep with horror... I beheld the wretch - the miserable monster whom I had created... one hand was stretched out, seemingly to detain me, but I escaped, and rushed downstairs..."
  • SD: Victor leaves his apartment and hurries through the rainy streets."I issued into the streets, pacing them with quick steps, as if I sought to avoid the wretch whom I feared every turning of the street would present to my view. I did not dare return to the apartment which I inhabited, but felt impelled to hurry on, although drenched by the rain which poured from a black and comfortless sky."
  • Scene: Victor encounters a coach, with Clerval inside. Clerval exits the coach and greets Frankenstein"I came at length opposite to the inn at which the various diligences and carriages usually stopped...
