- Greetings! I am DeAundr'e Newsome (He/Him), a first-year SUMA student from Las Vegas, NV. Seeing the effects that environmental justice (EJ) issues had on my community, I pursued a degree in Agribusiness at Florida AM University (FAMU) to understand how I could be a change-maker in the space.

- While I gained a deeper understanding of the context around EJ at FAMU, I also had the privilege of working in Agribusiness operations. This allowed me to have an impact at the farm-level helping farmers to be more efficient and resilient. This is when I became increasingly more aware of the effects of climate change and the importance of sustainability.

- Whether it is reaching our 2030 and 2050 net zero goals or being able to feed 10bn people by 2050, I always questioned our capacity to do so. I am certain that the next generation will be vital in our efforts, so I am interested in researching and developing their capacity to do so. It is not only important to inspire them to take action, but we must also equip them with the necessary tools to take effective action.
