- There are many events that led to the Civil War. Lincoln becoming president is one of them.When Lincoln became president, the South got upset, because everyone thought that Lincoln wanted to get rid of slavery at all when he only wanted to ban slavery in the new states. The South was scared when Lincoln won as president because in the South states they didn’t even put Lincoln up on the ballet. Lincoln not being on the ballet was a good idea to the South ,but once they found that their plan didn’t work they realized that even without their votes Lincoln would still win. When the states seceded Lincoln and the rest of the North started to stress out. The North tried to bring the states back but sadly failed because everyone was disagreeing with the compromise.That is why Lincoln becoming president led to the Civil War. There are the events that led to the Civil War.
