The Hunger Games novel starts off in a dystopian country called Panem. The novel follows Katniss Everdeen, a 16 year old girl who lives in the poorest district, district 12. Future events will end up changing Katniss´ life forvever.

The main conflict is Katniss has to kill people in order to survive. She doesn´t want to but she has to stay alive for her family. She has to try to win for her sister Prim and her friends Gale.

The rising action is when Katniss is actually in the Hunger Games. She starts to face problems and life threatening situations. These situations help her become stronger and ready for anything that comes next.

The climax is when their is a final battle between Katniss and Peeta against Cato. This big fight determines the winner of the 74th annual Hunger Games. 

The falling action is when Peeta and Katniss decide to try and commit suicide with poisonous berries. Instead the Game Makers are forced to make them stop. In the end they both win and get to go home to district 12 as winners.
