- The ill father and mother fight often and he offers the son a box of crayons and happiness if he stays with him.
- O God! Look out!
- The father has people looking for him and he teaches his son a phrase to say in case he is in any danger. The mother and father argue a lot because of the constant people looking to harm his family.

- The father dies and the boy is forced to live with his mother now. In Port-of-Spain, his mother beats his dad's teachings out of the boy and abuses him.
- The boy is watching as the people of the town are destroying the latrine and he tries to prevent the wall from falling and ends up getting injured badly and taken on a bus somewhere.
- After the bus ride to his house, he sees his mother with teary eyes, and the boy wishes he had 200 broken arms to be able to feel the emotional pain of worrying his mother.
