- Hey Aakash, did you understand what was Neha ma'am telling us about Acid Rains?
- Yeah, I do remember. It was a nice and an intresting class today.
- Well than help me, I am not even able to understand a percent of what ma'am taught us.
- Oh why not, I will surely help you Adhyayan. But first lets go from here to the factories.
- Woah! Where are we?
- Well yeah, it is a factory obviously. These factories make a lot of helpful products but also destry environment. They release gases which are results of the combustion of fossil fuels. These gases releases sulfur dioxide andnitrogen oxides. Also, you seeing that car, right. These car's exhaust also the same gases I mentioned earlier
- These gases are dissolved in rain cloud. Rain is already acid but when water vapour is mixed with pollutants, it becomes more acidic.
- When acid rain falls it can go into rivers and lakes. These chemicals can kill fish and plants.Acid rain damages the waxy layer on the leaves of trees. This makes it more difficult for trees to absorb the minerals they need for healthy growth and they may die.
