- John joined the Continental Army and fought in several battles, including the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was a brave soldier who never gave up, even when the odds were against him. After years of fighting, the colonists finally won their independence in 1783. John was overjoyed and decided to settle in the newly-formed United States of America.
