- What is UDL and OER?
- And UDL is universal design learning which is an approach to teaching that's main goal is to give all students equal opportunities to succeed.
- OER is open educational resources which means any resource available that is of little or no cost that could be used for educational purpose.
- Why is it important?
- OER is important because not every student has the financial means or the same opportunities as one another. So it is important to find resources that are free and accessible in various ways.
- UDL is important because not all students learn alike we have every single type of learner in a classroom so as educators we need to find a way to make learning easier for every student.
- What are some examples of both these concepts in a classroom ?
- Some examples is using different kind of aides to help different kind of learners. For visual learners use visual aides like videos or demonstrations. Hands on learners we can have students do different activities
- Some other examples is providing each student with the technology necessary so students can succeed. Providing free resources like free websites that they can complete assignments with or if you can a free PDF version of educational text.
- How I would use UDL in my classroom I would try to have different ways that students can complete assignments. I would include different ways to teach a lesson in the classroom and not just teach a lesson in one way.
- The way that I would include OER in my classroom is by trying to provide the necessary technology for success in my classroom. I would use free resources like Google Docs, Sheets, Slides to complete assignments.
- It is so important to make your classroom an accessible place to learn for all students. That is why I think it is so important to include UDL and OER into your classroom. This will ensure that all your students have an equal opportunity for success.
