After thinking of exchanging his book for a thicker one, filling up his wine bottle, shaving, getting a haircut in Tarifa, and dreameing about the possibilites that someone better than him might steal the merchant's daughter; Santiago suddenly rememberd that, in Tarifa, there was an old woman who interpreted dreams. When he went to her house, the woman led the boy to her living room, and began to quietly pray with both of his hands in hers.

This Gypsy has the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I don't think I'm gonna get kidnapped.

Psst.Psst.Psst..

Santiago was disappointed by the old Gypsy woman's straightforward interpretation, and chose to never believe in dreams. He got all of the things he had to take care of, and sat down on a bench to read the book he traded for. But then a mysterious old man interrupts his peacful perusal.

What are those people in the plaza doing?

Working...

Tell me about this dream you've been having.

I have wasted my precious time with you. You're free of charge for now, but promise me that you will give 1/10 of the treasure when you find it.

I had a dream about a child playing with my sheep in a field.

When the child finished playing with them, the kid took me by both hands transported me to the Egyptian pyramids. and said that if I go there, I'll find a hidden treasure. This happened TWICE!

Hmmm Very interesting. If a child is in your dream, then it must be true.
