Alexandria had the Pharos, a huge lightouse about 400 feet tall. Also had the great Museum which boasted labs, lecture halls, and a zoo.

The rulers built Greek temples, statues and held athletic contests in their cities. Gradually a blending of eastern and western civilization occurred. Alexander also had many Persian customs
Alexander's most immediate legacy was the introduction of Macedonian rule to huge swathes of Asia. Many of the areas he conquered remained in Macedonian hands or under Greek influence for the next 200 to 300 years.
Paintings, statues and legal homes showed that women were not restricted to their homes , more learned to read and write. Some became philosophers or poets and Royal women held considerable power.
Pythagoras developed a formula to calculate the relationship between the sides of a right triangle. Euclid wrote a textbook that became the basis for modern geometry.Archimedes applied principles of physics to make practical inventions like the use of lever and puley.
Hippocrates studied the cause of illness and looked for cures. His Hippocratic oath set the ethical standard for Doctors. The doctors today take a similar oath.
