- Nicholas decided to start a children's crusade to go claim and defend Jerusalem against the Muslims . he gathered up to about 20,000 children. The crusaded started in 1212 and Nicholas wanted to do it peacefully and try and convert the Muslims to Christianity.

- Nicholas and the other children on their journey to go to Jerusalem. Nicholas told the children that stayed the waters would be parted in the sea to pass by. The children were pretty tired and waited for the sea to part but it never happened so kids start to drop out of the cause.
- After the kids was waiting for the sea to part for a long time and some people asked Nicholas and his group if they need a ride to get across the sea and him and his group agreed. They ended up being tricked and either killed, drowned at sea, or sold into slavery. and also the parents of the children who didn't return from crusading killed Nicholas's dad by hanging him because they blamed him for they disappearanceof their children. and estimated about of 14,000 kids left to go back home or died while on there way to Jerusalembecause of hunger, or thirst.
