Alice Paul was born on 11th January 1885. Alice Paul was born to parents William Paul and Tracie Perry in a successful Quaker family, in Moorestown, New Jersey. She is the oldest of her 3 siblings, William, Helen, and Parry.
As a child, Paul went to the local Quaker school in Moorestown. She graduated first in her class in 1901. She was a bright teen girl.
She attended Swarthmore College until 1905, earning a degree in Biology. In 1907, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a masters in sociology, and achieved a Ph.D. in 1912 on women's legal rights from Pennsylvania 5 years later. In 1922, she earned a degree at Washington College of Law, and then later a Ph.D. in law from American University.
