- Hi, I am Robert Hooke and I was born on July 28, 1635, in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, England. Some of my discoveries were observing cork through my microscope, I saw tiny box-like cavities, which I illustrated and described as cells. I had also discovered plant cells! My discovery led to the understanding of cells as the smallest units of life the foundation of cell theory.

- Hi, I am also a Robert and was born December 21, 1773, in Montrose, United Kingdom. I published my research findings and gave speeches, and my discovery of the nucleus and its role helped to put together the cell theory, which states that all living organisms are composed of cells, and cells come from pre-existing cells. Lastly, my discovery helped to confirm the second half of the cell theory.

- Hi, there I am Matthias Schleiden born on April 5, 1804, in Germany. I discovered that all plants are composed of cells, and then declared that cells are the building blocks of all plants.
- Hi, my name is Theodor Schwann. I was born December 7, 1810, in Neuss Germany. I came to conclude that animal tissues are composed of cells because they are the basic unit of life.
- Last but not least I am Rudolf Virchow. I was born on October 13, 1821, in Swidwin Poland. I was one of the first scientists to accept that all cells appear from pre-existing cells. Since my discovery, it is now easier to discover diseases.
