- Lizabeth is a little who lives in Rural Maryland. Her brother and herself like to bother an old late next door who goes my Ms. Lottie. They like to rip, tear, and mess with her marigolds in her front yard. The kids do this because they think the marigolds are ugly.
- Climax
- As time passes, Lizabeth is reminded of her childhood, she remembers how she described Ms. Lottie, who she thought was scary and fun to annoy since she used to shoo the kids away in a scary mean way.
- Falling action
- Lizabeth also remembers about her father feeling guilty about not being able to provide for the family and that they were in poverty since they were in the Great Depression.
- Resolution
- The kids start to throw pebbles at the marigolds and taunt Ms. Lottie. Lizabeth then starts to tear out the marigolds while letting all her emotions and hatred out.
- EUGH SO UGLY I HATE THEM
- Lizabeth soon realizes that Ms. Lottie didn’t have much and was only trying to cope with sadness. Ms. Lottie ends up passing away, in which she never replants the marigolds.
- After looking back into her past, Lizabeth decides to plant marigolds in her garden. She does this because she realizes how much the marigolds meant to Ms. Lottie.
