- The cell theory was a crucial discovery towards the science filed of biology. It opened up an entire new world for scientists to study. The cell theory said that all living things are composed of cells, they are the basic structural and functional unit of all organism, and all cells come from preexisting cells.
- Animals are made of cells!
- Robert Hooke was an English polymath. He was the first person ever to visualize and discover micro-organisms using a microscope. He introduced scientists to the discovery of cells, as he was examining a piece of cork under his microscope and noticed tiny structures that looked like the cells that monks would live in. Hooke was born on July 28, 1635. He died on March 3, 1703.

- Robert Brown was a English botanist and a paleo-botanist. Brown discovered a circular object within a cell and called it the nucleus. He also discovered its importance towards the cell.. He also helped to prove that all cells come from preexisting cells. Robert Brown was born on December 21, 1773 in the United Kingdom. He died on June 10, 1858.

- Theodore Schwann was a German physician and physiologist. He theorized that all animals are made from cells. He also supported the claim that living things are made up of one or more cells. He also had a very parts of the nervous system named after him. Theodore Schwann was born on December 7, 1810. He passed away on January 11, 1882.
- Matthias Scheilden was a botanist from Germany. He discovered that all plants are made up of cells. This links together the claim of his buddy Schwann that all animals are made up of cells. Matthias Scheilden was born on April 5, 1804. He passed away on June 23, 1881.
- Rudolph Virchow was a physician, anthropologist, pathologist, prehistorian, biologist, writer, editor, and politician. That's a lot of studying. He discovered that all cells come from preexisting cells. Virchow also invented the method of a modern autopsy. He was born in Poland on October 13, 1821. Virchow died on September 5, 1902 in Berlin, Germany.
