- 2nd Grade Science Lesson: Plants & Ecosystems
- Okay, class! This week we are learning about ecosystems! Let's get started with a BrainPop video!
- Day One
- I love Tim and Moby!
- Why are they in a forest?
- Day Two
- Yeah!
- Work in groups to cut out different trees, bushes, and animals! Then, figure out how to glue them together to make an ecosystem!
- Let's make a jungle!
- This takes place in an elementary classroom. The emphasis is on differentiation and the varying learning preferences amongst students.
- Day Three
- Log in to the game on your laptop and find the answer to question one!
- The first day of the lesson would be visual, the class will watch videos and listen to a brief lecture on the topic. Numerous pictures and examples will be shown.
- Day Four
- Excellent work, class!
- The second day will be focused on the social learning preference. Students will work together to utilize arts and crafts to discover pieces in order to make ecosystem artwork.
- Day Five
- Differentiating my lessons helps every student feel included!
- The logical learning preference is covered on the third day. The class will have laptops so they can work collaboratively to answer interactive game questions.
- I figured it out! I'm gonna win!
- Uhh, what's an organism again?
- The final day of the lesson will cater towards physical activities. This includes a hands-on approach to the topic, allowing the children to make their own ecosystems.
- Let's get some sticks so the snails have somewhere to hide!

- Providing different options for every student is important to their learning and academic development. If they can't learn one way, they're bound to figure it out with a different style.
- They learn more and enhance their previous knowledge!
