- Sam always had a talent for digital games and started playing them at a young age. She is also a online student in the UBC MET program and figured she could start a online blog Twitch to help off-set her tuitions fees whileearning extra income
- As an active forum poster, Sam is known in the gaming community as a knowledgable member who contributes valuable insight and reviews. As she specializes in particular game genres, she believed that she could become an expert in this field and monetize her blog and make her passion her dream job!Maybe her blog entires could capture the attention of game developers and journalists. Sam hopes to use the money earned from her blog to develop her own games

- Sam spent countless nights creating her blog and writing well researched posts thinking surely she would be on the first page of Google's search results. Unfortunately this was not the case as Sam realized she would need to change her presentation style or jump out of her comfort zone in order to gain more viewership to her channels and site. She started thinking about starting up a Twitch Stream and Youtube Channel (while finding sponsored links). The only problem is, Sam isn't comfortable talking in front of a camera.

- Sam decided to invest in production equipment such as a DSLR Camera, Microphones and high end PCs to assist with her work. Due to longer working hours, Sam finds herself using more time to edit videos and managing her Twitch broadcasts with hopes that her videos will gain more viewership. Despite her efforts, she still hasn't made any profit but remains determined to prove that digital labour will work out for her

- However due to less than desirable growth of her channel along with occasional bullying and harassment from some viewers, Sharon feels alienated and disconnected from her initial passion and goals. Due to emotional stress, her MET studies are affected due to intense time involvement into her Twitch channel and social media channels. Additional expenses were also incurred for her channel and with inflation taken into account, Sharon starts to feel financial pressure. This kind of equipment and setup doesn't even accurately reflect Sharon's initial goals.

- Sam decided to take a step back from trying to make money from Digital Labour and instead, reframed her mentality to remind herself that she enjoyed playing video games out of enjoyment and way to reduce stress. For Sam, games should not be a means of financial gain as it nearly destroyed her love for the hobby. She began to focus more on her MET Studies and Full time job while occasionally updating her Twitch channel and social media channels. Through this balanced approach, Sam no longer associates her worth with how much money she earns online. She is more positive, healthy and back to her old self again. As a life lesson learnt, Sam now realizes she is in a good position to intrinsically enjoy her hobbies and interests on her own terms.
