  • "Amontillado!" I boasted.
  • "My dear Fortunato, i'm so happy to see you," Montressor said, "How remarkably well you are looking today! For I have a pipe of Amontillado to share." Montressor continued.
  • "Luchesi can't tell Amontillado from Sherry." I rudely interrupeted, "I will go to your vaults!" I exclamed.
  • "I'm on my way to Luchesi," Montressor said, "he'll confirm it for-"
  • "How long have you had that cough?" Montressor questioned, "Come, we will go back; your health is precious."
  • "Enough," I demanded, "the cough is mere nothing; it will not kill me. I shall not die from a cough. "
  • "True-True," Montressor replied, "I had no intention of alarming you unnecessarily. A draught of this Medoc will defend us from the damps."
