- To escape, I need to put my ladder at a 75 degree angle to climb over this 12 foot wall. My ladder is 14 feet long. I need to know how far back my ladder should be to climb over this wall. Using the equation x=12/cos(75), I know that the ladder should be about 3 feet away from the wall
- I got money from the bank and I payed someone to build this giant gold statue of me. I want to know how tall it is. By looking to the top with a 50 degree angle and when I am standing 12 feet away. I can use the equation [12tan(50)]+20/3=x to get the height of my statue. By statue is about 21 feet tall
- I'm Bill and I need to bring Joe back to prison. I know he is in this house. I need a ladder to get on to the roof so I can come in through the skylight. This house is about 40 feet tall and my ladder needs to have a 75 degree angle 3 feet from the house. By using the equation sin(75)=40/x, I know that my ladder should be about 41.5 feet long.
