- It was such fun playing with my brother until that nasty man came along.
- I was early snatched away from my town, with about eighteen or twenty more boys and girls, as we were playing in a field. Some of us attempted to run away, but pistols were drawn and we were threatened with death.
- I was then thown into this massive boat, full of other people. My leg was tied to someone else's and I was lay on the floor, on the lower deck, for weeks and weeks. No toilet access or anything, there were terrible conditions
- I was then taken to this horrible place, we were chucked on the floor and waited for hours until someone finally came and bought me, along with the fellow to my left. I later learned it was the slave auction.
- This is the plantation, we work here every hour of every day and the master is mighty horrible. The work is hard and no one gets away with anything, there is no way out either.
- This was the best day of my life, I was set free and...and...I just can't believe it. Free at last, but only because of my sideline job and getting to Britain.
