Upon arriving at the Mountag house, he himself could not believe what was happening. And that's when Captain Beatty shows Guy Montag that the alarm was activated by his own wife, and that she is fleeing the scene with a suitcase in a taxi.
Beatty forces Mountag to set fire to his own house, when he finished doing what he was asked to do, he was arrested. But Beatty continues to reprimand him and that is when he decides to turn the flamethrower on top of him and begins to burn it to ashes. And he beats the two firefighters unconscious.
Montag flees with some books that were hidden in his backyard. He hides them in the house of another firefighter and calls from a public phone to raise the alarm. He then heads to Professor Faber's house and realizes that a bloodhound is following him. Faber is going to St Louis to see a retired printer who can help them.
all the citizens of the city watched the chase on television, but Montag manages to escape and put on Faber's clothes to disguise his scent. He walks downstream following a group of abandoned railroad tracks until he reaches a group of intellectuals calling themselves the Book Men, which is led by a man named Granger, who greets him. There he reflects on life.
Everyone dies except Guy Montag and the intellectuals of the forest. As a result of what happened, they decide to rebuild society together and Montag remembers a passage read from the Bible and leaves hopeful to create this new society where they will clearly put aside television and give priority to books and freedom.
