- On November 14, 2021 the TU soccer team played UCF in the American Soccer Conference.
- I could go one of two ways to score the winning goal...
- The score is tied 1-1 and there are 10 minutes left in the second half.
- I am about 10 feet from the goalie and the ball is about at about a 30 degree angle from me and the goalie.
- 10 ft.
- 30 °
- I could use tangent to complete the triangle and figure out how far I need to kick the ball into the goal.
- However, if I am at a 50 degree angle, 6 feet from the goalie, and the goalie is at a 78 degree angle from me and the ball.
- I could use the law of sines to figure out how far I will kick the ball into the goal.
- 78 °
- 50 °
- 6 ft.
- If I use the right triangle tangent I will kick the ball 20 feet into the goal.
- I will utilize the law of sines because I am trying to make a goal!
- If I use the law of sines I will kick the ball 6 feet into the goal.
- GOALLL!!
