Oh No! A Hurricane is coming toward my home! I better prepare for this.
How to Prepare for and Survive a Hurricane
First Step: Board up your windows to prevent debris from coming through. Use wooden planks and standard hammer and nails.
Next Step: Secure your roof with tie down straps to keep it intact during the storm.
Next Step: Trim Up any branches around your home to cut back on any potential debris.
Next Step: Also tie down any loose objects in the yard such as lawn furniture or trash cans.
Next Step: Lay down Sand Bags to prevent flooding in your home.
Next Step: Make sure you have plenty of water and cash in case you need it.

Now just wait out the storm in a room with no window or external doors. Have something like a radio with you so you can hear the local news and any special instructions they might have.
Several Hours Later...
Local News: Hurricane has passed. It is now safe to go outside.
Hurricane comes...
Wait for the local news to give you the go ahead before leaving your safe room.
