- Governor I am looking at our money and we are looking low. The war hit us hard and we are not looking good.
- Oh no! We need to think of ideas quickly to make money. We could start a charity, or make a donation box.
- I got an idea we should tax civilians on sugar. We could call it "The Sugar Act"!
- That's a great idea, hopefully people don't get to mad about the tax.
- Since we are making a new act people are going to attempt to smuggle sugar items such as molasses.
- I think that people are going to try to disrupt the input from the west-indies.
- Governor how are we going to punish the smugglers?
- We will send the smugglers to court and whatever the judges opinion is we will go with. The items will also be confiscated.
- It's not fair that we have to pay taxes.
- I think that I might start to smuggle items. I can't afford to pay the extra tax.
- We have to make our mark with the government some way.
- We have to make sure no one smuggles items from us.
- I agree. We suddenly have a lot of pressure and it's effecting us harshly.
