- Starting a conversation with a peer is an important skill. First, you must identify the peer you want to talk to.
- Second, you need to identify a topic that you plan to talk about. The topic should be something relevant to what is happening. Either something the person is talking about, something recent that happened or something connected to what is happening.This might include: giving a compliment, asking a question, talking about an interest you both share.
- Next, you should look at the person you want to talk to and engage in starting a conversation. You should look at their eyes, forehead or face when talking. You may need to get their attention by saying their name. Smiling may be helpful but do not laugh as they may think you are laughing at them.For example, "Hello Jayden. I like your new shoes."
