- Miles, recently nick-named as Pudge, moves to Alabama for his junior year of high-school at Culver Creek Preparatory school, where he meets Chip, Takumi, and the beautiful and seggsy Alaska! With this group though, he finds trouble, but it doesn't bother him because he gets to see Alaska who he has fallen in love with.

- A conflict that often appears throughout Looking for Alaska is the tension and dislike between Chip (and his friends) and the Weekday Warriors. Chip says it's because he hates rich people. He grew up in a situation with very little money, and therefore was not raised nor spoiled the way the Warriors were. He despised their snobby action and words. This is like person VS. person, or maybe person VS. society.
- FALLING ACTION
- The only way to get our of the labyrinth is... straight and fast?
- Miles and the crew bond, they learn new things about each other, as Miles and Alaska's one sided romance builds. Miles though, gets a girlfriend names Lara, who he likes, but not nearly as much as he likes Alaska. Pudge and Chip become better friends, they play more pranks, drink, smoke, and have fun... until...
- RESOLUTION
- Drunk and extremely upset, Alaska realizes something, asks Pudge and Chip to help her get out of school for reasons untold. There was a jackknifed truck on the road and an officer taking car of it, and Alaska sped straight into the cop car with it's lights on and died.
- Devastated at the death of Alaska, Chip and Pudge are desperate for answers, what happened? Why did she run into a cop car with it's light on without swerving or anything? They look and search for answers, but the only theories they come up with are suicide and drunkenness. They are upset, Pudge is being selfish, thinking only of him and Alaska, and how they'd never be together.
- After finding out a good reason why Alaska could possibly have died, they decide to let it go. They get over Alaska's death, but keep her in their hearts. As one last memorial to her before everyone forgot, they pulled their big prank, for her.
